A bridge $ABC$ is in the form of the parabola given by the equation

$8y=16-x^2$

as shown in the figure.

The slope of the bridge at the point $P$ is $0.5$ . Find the coordinate of $P$ .

$\begin{aligned} \bigg|\frac{\mathrm{d}y}{\mathrm{d}x}\bigg| & = \bigg|-\frac{1}{4}x\bigg| \\ 0.5 & = \frac{1}{4}|x| \\ x & = \pm 2 \\ 8y & = 16-(\pm 2)^2 \\ y & = 1.5 \\ \end{aligned}$

Answer. $P(2,1.5)$ .
